The Deaconate

THE WORK OF A DEACON

The work of a Deacon is a serious one.  It is not for lazy people or those who only want to enjoy the title.  Amongst the work Deacons / Deaconesses are expected to do in this local church are the following:

  • Being a servant of God’s people.

  • Neighborhood Fellowship oversight.

  • Zonal fellowship oversight.

  • Oversight for the teams and human organization.

  • Mission churches oversight.

  • Weekly visitation to church members.

  • Availability all year round in all church gatherings.

  • Regular attendance to all Leadership and church meetings.

  • Sacrificial giving to God’s work, the brethren etc.

  • Readiness to respond to emergencies whenever they occur.

  • Helping the pastors to officiate during worship services.

  • Helping the pastors to carry out assigned tasks.
